Manley López is a leading figure in Afro-Cuban percussion, bringing decades of experience rooted in rich folkloric traditions. As the youngest member of the “Los Chinitos” family, creators of Guarapachangueo - a rhythm that has evolved from Cuban Rumba - he grew up alongside legends of Cuban music such as Pedro Pablo Valdéz “Aspirina,” Francisco Hernández “Pancho Quinto,” and Mario Jáuregui. These formative experiences made him one of today’s most skilled percussionists and an international reference for Afro-Cuban musical roots. Over the years, Manley López has mastered the Batá drum, incorporating influences from folkloric percussion traditions around the world. Recognized globally as both a performer and teacher, he has appeared at major venues and festivals across Europe, the United States, and Mexico. With over 25 years of teaching musicians from around the world, he is celebrated as one of the most outstanding instructors of Afro-Cuban folklore. Manley López will be coming to Zurich for an exclusive solo concert, gracing the stage at Dynamo.

Bérénice Awa is a Swiss-Senegalese percussionist and artist, deeply immersed in the world of collective improvisation. She studied jazz percussion at Jazzcampus Basel, where she completed her bachelor’s degree in 2024. During her studies, she founded her first project as a bandleader: “ON EST ENSEMBLE,” which made its debut in autumn 2024 at Basel’s Bird’s Eye Jazz Club. With a carefully curated ensemble, Bérénice creates a space where musical diversity and mutual respect take center stage. The band’s different backgrounds and personal connections shape the music, turning each piece into a reflection of shared experiences and collective creativity. Their performances convey not only a passion for collaborative music-making but also the deeper human connections that it fosters.
